Basic Machine Quilting
Basic Machine Quilting
Pre-requisite: none; 1 day, 6 hours instruction

Learn to use your domestic (home) sewing machine to join the three layers of a quilt. Stitch quilt patterns that give the textural feel of hand quilting in a fraction of the time. Students practice machine quilting on samples using the even feed (walking) foot and darning (free-motion) foot.

This hands-on workshop has been designed for beginners to become familiar and comfortable with basic machine quilting designs. Learn proper basting of the quilt sandwich, machine guided quilting (walking foot) with stitch-in-the-ditch and grid work designs. Learn free-motion designs including stippling, and other background motifs, etc. Thread, needles, marking methods and batting types will also be covered.
